All you have to do is to watch "Wheel of Fortune" on TV. With very few exceptions, the contestants who are cooperative and cheerful win.
In school the positive thinking students win all the scholarships. It matters not what situation you consider, be it art, music or whatever, the people on top are usually the ones with the brightest outlooks. I remember Maurice Chevalier, who had a smile so warm, he won you over with his Gallic charm and Duke Ellington, who also had a winning smile. Those attitudes could not be faked;they were genuine.
